An MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter assigned to Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 60 (HSM-60) takes off from the flight deck aboard the Freedom-variant littoral combat ship USS Cooperstown (LCS 23) to conduct maritime surveillance operations while the ship transits the Gulf of America, May 30, 2026. Deploying aviation assets from littoral combat ships enhances the task force's capability to monitor maritime transit corridors and detect illicit activities.
