American and French leaders gathered at Saint-Mihiel American Cemetery to honor the American service members who gave their lives in defense of freedom.
During the Memorial Day ceremony, Maj. Gen. Michael B. Lalor, commanding general of the 21st Theater Sustainment Command, joined U.S. and French dignitaries, including Col. Charles Douglas, deputy commander of Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in laying wreaths at the gravesites.
The ceremony paid tribute to the 4,153 American service members laid to rest at the cemetery and featured memorial remarks, wreath-laying ceremonies, military honors, and moments of silence in remembrance of the fallen.
