U.S. Airmen assigned to the New York Air National Guard 106th Rescue Wing exit an HC-130J Combat King II search and rescue aircraft at Fort Drum, N.Y., May 13, 2026, after arriving from Francis S. Gabreski Air National Guard Base in Westhampton Beach, N.Y., during the wing’s five-day combat readiness inspection, Northern Horizon. The movement of personnel and equipment by airlift validated the wing’s ability to rapidly project and sustain combat search-and-rescue forces from a forward operating location.
