USDA Rural Development and Lakota Funds staff pose for a photo after signing closing documents on Lakota Fund's' Native Community Development Financial Institution Relending Demonstration Program loan. Lakota Funds received $764,000 to finance home loans for Native Americans living on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
South Dakota became the first state to offer the program when, in 2018, Mazaska Owecaso Otipi Financial in Pine Ridge, and Four Bands in Eagle Butte, each received $800,000 to begin the lending process.
