Staff Sgt. Henry Kincaid, the pest management NCOIC at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina, and Lt. Col. Jennifer Remmers, a medical entomologist with the 757th Airlift Squadron, demonstrate how to hold a compass and an anemometer used to gather windspeed measurements during the Department of War’s annual Aerial Application Pest Control Course at Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio, May 6, 2026. Facilitated by medical entomologists, the week-long course provides pest management participants from across the DOW the opportunity to earn their Category 11 Applicator Certification and knowledge for achieving the maximum kill of the target pest with minimal impact on the environment, which is the ultimate goal of pest aerial spray.
