U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Cody Locklear, a military police officer with the Special Reaction Team, Security Battalion, poses for a photo at The Basic School on Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, May 14, 2026. Every May, our nation comes together for National Police Week to honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of law enforcement officers. This includes Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15th and a week of observances recognizing officers who gave their lives in the line of duty, as well as those who continue to serve and protect our communities with dedication and courage. The Special Reaction Team are elite specialized units with a capability similar to that of civilian Special Weapons and Tactics units, responding to crisis situations at Marine Corps installations.
