Master Chief Musician Eric Lopez, operations chief for the U.S. Navy Band, works behind the scenes onboard the Washington Navy Yard where the Navy’s premier musical organization is headquartered. Lopez and his staff coordinate thousands of musical support requests for the U.S. Navy Band annually, including more than 1200 funerals at Arlington National Cemetery each year. The U.S. Navy Band provides musical support to the president, vice president and other senior civilian and military officials throughout the National Capital Region, as well as funerals at Arlington National Cemetery and public outreach performances across the United States. The band serves as the Echelon II headquarters for nine U.S. Navy fleet bands around the world.
