U.S. service members with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) and Vietnamese citizens wet screen buckets of soil from an excavation unit during a DPAA mission in Quang Binh Province, Vietnam, March 28, 2026. The DPAA recovery team cautiously wet screen through the hard soil in search of clues to locate missing personnel lost during the Vietnam War. DPAA’s humanitarian mission has a significant role in the Department of Defense’s efforts to build partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region and around the world.
