U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Devon Capaldi, an anti-tank missileman with 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), exits a tunnel system during a leadership site visit with U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Brian A. Filler, deputy commanding general of JTF-SB, in the San Diego sector along the U.S.-Mexico border in California, April 28, 2026. The visit enabled senior leaders from JTF-SB to gain a shared understanding of border security operations and enhance coordination with U.S. Customs and Border Protection. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
