The District of Columbia Army National Guard Officer Candidate School held a Change of Command ceremony at the 260th Regional Training Institute (RTI) at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, on April 30, 2026. The ceremony honored the service of outgoing commander, U.S. Army Maj. Jesse Searls, and welcomed incoming commander, Capt. Patrick Spaulding. It was officiated by Lt. Col. Tyson V. Mele, commander of the 260th RTI and DCARNG Chief of Staff. The Officer Candidate School (OCS) is an intense, physically and mentally challenging program designed to transform soldiers into commissioned officers (second lieutenants).
