U.S. Army aviators and maintainers assigned to Company B, 2nd General Support Battalion (GSB), 238th Aviation Regiment, 59th Aviation Troop Command, South Carolina National Guard, perform a Downed Aircraft Recovery Team (DART) mission in the vicinity of Savannah, Georgia, April 24, 2026. During the mission, a team of maintainers and test pilots flew to Savannah on a CH-47F Chinook helicopter to repair another Chinook that had developed a mechanical issue to the rotor system. On their way to the downed aircraft, the 238th GSB crew delivered a Bambi bucket to a local Georgia Army National Guard unit currently engaged in firefighting operations to contain a large wildfire in the Savannah area. At the same facility, the crew also picked up a mobile crane critical for the success of the DART mission. The downed Chinook war repaired in-place and later returned to South Carolina.
