U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. William J. Bowers, deputy commandant for Manpower and Reserve Affairs, commemorates the grand reopening of The Marine Shop and the transfer of ownership from the Marine Corps Association (MCA) to Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS), during a ceremony in Quantico, Virginia, April 17, 2026. The Marine Shop was founded in 1962 by retired U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Harry Elms. In 2007, ownership was passed on to the MCA. Under the newfound direction of MCCS, The Marine Shop will continue to build upon its legacy of providing premier support to Marines for their uniform needs.
