Airmen with the 163d Maintenance Squadron, 146th Maintenance Squadron, and 452nd Maintenance Squadron collaborated to complete critical magnetic particle inspections on 121 parts for the C-130J Super Hercules aircraft, March Air Reserve Base, Calif., April 12, 2026. Before testing could begin, the team completed a particle concentration test on the fluorescent magnetic particle bath machine using a cuvette vial to ensure its precision is up to standards to test the aircraft parts for cracks. MAG inspections are required due to routine service after a predetermined number of flying hours or corrosion induced after aircraft are exposed to hazardous environments.
