U.S. Army Soldiers with Bravo Battery, 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), perform a tactical insertion in Wellton, Ariz., April 6, 2026. Tactical insertions enable Soldiers to rapidly deploy to remote locations, enhancing their ability to provide immediate support to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
