U.S. Army Spc. Alexander Warren, a UH-60 Black Hawk crew chief with Alpha Company, 3rd Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), performs pre-flight checks before flying along the U.S.-Mexico border in the Wellton sector, Ariz., April 6, 2026. Pre-flight checks are essential to make sure everyone loading the aircraft understands the safety measures and how to use them. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
