U.S. Army Soldiers with the 35th Armored Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, all assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border, establish a security perimeter after exiting a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter assigned to 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, April 1, 2026. Soldiers were transported to a location near the border of Arizona to enhance border security and operational reach. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
