U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Duane Smith, 30th Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician, prepares a defusal device at an EOD facility at Vandenberg Space Force Base, Calif., March 17, 2026. Smith was a part of a demonstration held by Vandenberg EOD personnel to showcase robots, bomb suits, response vehicles and special equipment during a recruitment event for delayed entry program candidates. The demolition was a part of a joint Vandenberg EOD and Air Force Special Warfare recruiting program hosted by Vandenberg’s EOD team.
