U.S. Navy Seabees assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 3 and personnel from Smith Crane & Construction, part of Antarctica New Zealand, prepare a worksite at McMurdo Station, Antarctica, Nov. 6, 2025. The team prepared a lower abutment installation as part of the National Science Foundation’s McMurdo Station Offload Infrastructure project, a mission in support of Operation Deep Freeze. The coordinated effort highlighted the teamwork and precision required to execute complex construction operations in Antarctica’s extreme environment.
