Medal of Honor recipient retired U.S. Marine Corps Corporal Kyle Carpenter laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on March 25, 2026. Carpenter became a Medal of Honor recipient for his act of heroism when he moved toward a grenade in an attempt to shield his fellow Marine from the deadly blast while he served during Operation Enduring Freedom on 21 November 2010.
