Rct. Leah Lake carries Rct. Tralon Ford through part of the combat fitness test June 18, 2013, on Parris Island, S.C. Lake, an 18-year-old native of Eustis, Fla., and Ford, a 22-year-old native of Arcadia, La., both with Platoon 4020, November Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, are scheduled to graduate July 3, 2013. The CFT assesses physical capacity in a broad spectrum of combat-related tasks. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
