JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii — Arthur Banaticla, a motor vehicle operator work leader with Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, radios personnel during a transportation operation at the shipyard March 3, 2026.

The Lifting and Handling Department provides safe, reliable, and efficient support across the shipyard through its various sections, including transportation (code 742, shop 72). Through careful coordination and expert equipment operation, these teams transport essential components to any location, including dry docks and workshops.

PHNSY & IMF’s mission is to keep the Navy’s fleet “Fit to Fight" by repairing, maintaining, and modernizing the Navy's fast-attack submarines and surface ships. Strategically located in the heart of the Pacific, it is the most comprehensive fleet repair and maintenance facility between the U.S. West Coast and the Far East. (U.S. Navy photo by Camey Streff)
