260319-N-MZ309-3026 SILVERDALE, Wash. (March 19, 2026) Cmdr. Robert Perris, commanding officer of Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine USS Kentucky (SSBN 737) Blue Crew, gives Adm. William Houston, director of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program for the Departments of the Navy and Energy, a tour of the submarine during a visit to Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor, March 19, 2026. SUBGRU-9 exercises operational and administrative control authority for assigned submarine commands and units in the Pacific Northwest providing oversight for shipboard training, personnel, supply and material readiness of SSBNs and their crews. SUBGRU-9 is also responsible for nuclear submarines undergoing conversion or overhaul at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton.
