U.S. Marines with 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), hike during their Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense (CBRN) training at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., March 09, 2026. The purpose of the training is to instill confidence in their CBRN equipment that will protect them against an actual chemical attack in a combat environment. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
