Brig. Gen. Douglas Wickert, Air Force Materiel Command director of air, space and cyberspace operations, participates in a panel discussion titled “Digital Transformation within the Department of the Air Force” at Capital Factory House during South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, March 12, 2026. Panelists discussed the current state of digital transformation across the DAF, including the adoption of digital tools within AFMC and AFRL and the future of operating in a digital-first environment. AFRL is the Department of the Air Force’s primary scientific research and development center and leads the discovery, development and integration of affordable warfighting technologies for air, space and cyberspace forces.
