A Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Specialist assigned to the 23rd Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Battalion, 2d Infantry Support Brigade, 2d Infantry Division/ROK-US Combined Division, practices decontamination during Decon Support rehearsal March 12, 2026 on Dagmar North, South Korea. By training on decontamination operations, the division is able to improve its capabilities to defend against CBRN threats. Freedom Shield is an annual combined exercise conducted in support of the ROK-U.S. Mutual Defense Treaty signed in 1953. This combined exercise highlights the ironclad commitment between the two nations to maintain a robust combined defense posture and to defend the people of the ROK and the United States from any threat or adversary.
