US, Kenya artillery crews certify on Table VI during Justified Accord 2026

U.S. Army Pfc. Maxwell Fortes, a cannon crewmember, with the 1st Battalion, 101st Field Artillery Regiment, Massachusetts Army National Guard, sets up the M1 collimator as the primary aiming point to establish the initial lay and correct for displacement during a Justified Accord 2026 Table VI live-fire certification between U.S. and Kenya Defence Forces artillerymen at Bearing Point 5, Laresoro, Kenya March 5, 2026. The collimator is positioned four to 15 meters to the left-front of the KDF M119A2 howitzer muzzle, leveled, and aligned with the panoramic telescope to ensure accurate fire. Table VI certification validated artillery crews’ ability to safely and accurately execute fire missions under live-fire conditions, ensuring technical proficiency and readiness before advancing to more complex combined arms operations.

JA26 increases multinational interoperability in support of humanitarian assistance and crisis response, prepares regional partners for United Nations and African Union missions, and builds readiness for the U.S. joint force. Led by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), and hosted in Djibouti, Kenya, and Tanzania, JA26 is U.S. Africa Command’s largest exercise in East Africa.
