U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Davin Powell, South Carolina state command sergeant major and Command Sgt. Maj. Norris McCall, senior enlisted leader for the South Carolina National Guard, recognize Sgt. 1st Class Ervin Baker, 2nd Battalion, 218th Regional Training Institute and Spc. Matthew Merrow, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1-118th Battalion, 218th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, for winning the 2026 Best Warrior Competition in their respective categories, during an awards ceremony held at McCrady Training Center in Eastover, South Carolina, March 6, 2026.
