Maj. Valantine Roberts, a soldier assigned to the University of Hawaii at Mānoa ROTC program, conducts the 25th Infantry Division E3B 12-mile ruck march at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, on March 6, 2026. Roberts was so far in front that he could not see the other participants. The purpose of the Expert Infantryman, Soldier, and Field Medical Badges is to create experts at all levels, across all organizations, increasing the readiness and lethality of teams, squads, and platoons.
