U.S. Army Lt. Col. David Milia, a general surgeon with the 307th Forward Resuscitation Surgery Detachment, U.S. Army Reserves, prepares to perform surgery on a simulated casualty while participating in combined infantry training during Justified Accord 2026, at the Kenya School of Infantry, Isiolo, Kenya, March 3, 2026. The 307th FSRD provided a higher echelon of care than medics can give, to include keeping a critical-condition patient stable for up to 72 hours. They can also coordinate and communicate the specifics of a casualty’s necessary care to partner nations' hospitals or aerial medical evacuation personnel, building a chain of interoperable processes that keep soldiers alive in adverse conditions.
JA26 increases multinational interoperability in support of humanitarian assistance and crisis response, prepares regional partners for United Nations and African Union missions, and builds readiness for the U.S. joint force. Led by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) and hosted in Djibouti, Kenya and Tanzania, JA26 is U.S. Africa Command’s largest exercise in East Africa.
