US Embassy leader observes multinational medical mission in Northern Kenya

Carla Benini, acting deputy chief of mission for the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi, speaks to Kenya Defence Forces leaders and members of the local community during Justified Accord 2026 Medical Civic Action Program (MEDCAP) outreach activities at Laresoro, Kenya, Feb. 27, 2026. Her visit highlighted U.S. diplomatic support for the multinational medical engagement and the partnership between U.S., Kenyan, and international forces working alongside local health providers to deliver care in remote communities.

JA26 increases multinational interoperability in support of humanitarian assistance and crisis response, prepares regional partners for missions with the United Nations and African Union, and builds readiness for the U.S. joint force. Led by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) and hosted in Djibouti, Kenya and Tanzania, the exercise brings together personnel from approximately 15 nations and is U.S. Africa Command’s largest exercise in East Africa.
