U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Bradford J. Gering, the 38th Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps, and Sgt Maj. Beau Hancock of 1st Combat Engineer Battalion (1st CEB), 1st Marine Division, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), shake hands upon Gering’s arrival to Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, Ariz., Feb. 19, 2026. Gering visited JTF-SB Marines operating in the Yuma sector of the southern border to gain enhanced situational awareness of 1st CEB’s operational posture. JTF-SB executes full-scale, agile, and all-domain operations in support of U.S. Customs and Border Protection to protect the territorial integrity of the United States and achieve 100% operational control of the southern border.
