A few ridges over, on Crain Ridge, firefighters with the Plumas National Forest started their day with a test fire to observe if the conditions were right to continue with planned prescribed burning operations. Ultimately the test proved unsuccessful with a combination of strong winds and still too dry fuels. The crews will return another day with more favorable weather and fuels conditions.
