Marc George, Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation chief of business operations and former FMWR executive chef, shows Cpl. Emilie Chapter, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, U.S. Disciplinary Barracks Battalion (Corrections), and Spc. Mickeal Jose, Religious Support Office, how to build a pizza from scratch, including how to make and roll out the dough and adding sauce, cheese and toppings, during the Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers pizza-making class Feb. 10, 2026, at the Frontier Conference Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. George said he began teaching the life-skills cooking classes to geographic bachelors during the pandemic, and now provides the BOSS-sponsored classes for single soldiers. He led a steak-themed cooking class for BOSS last fall, showing participants how to cut vegetables and sharing tips for perfect steak that the soldiers could even cook in the barracks. Participants in the steak class received knives and cutting boards, and pizza class attendees took home rolling pins. BOSS members expressed interest in making pies, with crust made from scratch, as an idea for another class offering. Photo by Prudence Siebert/Fort Leavenworth LampM
