North Carolina National Guard soldier Staff Sgt. Nicole Zarate takes a picture with fellow cyclists in Astoria, Ore., June 9, 2013. Zarate and her group will ride more than 4,200 miles over the next three months, beginning June 10 in Astoria and ending in Yorktown, Va.
