Brig. Gen. Nichols Retires After Over 40 Years of Service
The Arkansas National Guard celebrated the career of U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Charles W. “Wes” Nichols, Jr., during his retirement ceremony held on February 8, 2026, at Little Rock AFB, Arkansas. He serves as the Chief of Staff, Headquarters, Arkanasas Air National Guard. Gen. Nichols is a second-generation Air Guardsman, who at the age of 17, enlisted in the Arkansas Air National Guard’s 188th Tactical Fighter Group in Fort Smith, Arkansas, as an Avionics Flight Control Systems Specialist. He received his commission at the Academy of Military Science at McGhee-Tyson Air National Guard Base in November 1992. His career is gilded with selfless service through multiple Operations and positions of command, to include serving as Acting Director, Manpower Personnel Recruiting & Services at the ANG Readiness Center, National Guard Bureau, Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, and serves there as a civilian in the position of Chief of Staff when not in uniform.
