Indiana National Guard soldiers salute as the 438th Chemical Company’s colors are retired during a ceremony in Indianapolis, Indiana, Feb. 8, 2026. The casing symbolized the formal conclusion of the unit’s service and the shared responsibility of leadership in honoring the soldiers who served under the colors. From its activation in Terre Haute, Ind., in 1980, the 438th Chemical Company’s history reflects a consistent legacy of readiness, professionalism, and service which is a legacy carried forward by today’s soldiers.
