KILAUEA, Hawaii (February 6, 2026) — Working together! Staff from the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF), Pacific Rim Conservation and experienced U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service volunteers. The team placed 15 fertile eggs into foster nests across Kīlauea Point National Wildlife Refuge. The work is being as part of the Cooperative Agreement award between the U.S. Navy and the Friends of Kauaʻi Wildlife Refuge to support a multi-year project focused on expanding habitat for native seabirds and water birds, support aviation safety at the PMRF by reducing Bird Aircraft Strike Hazard (BASH) and advancing long-term conservation on Kaua‘i. PMRF is the world's largest instrumented multi-domain range, capable of supporting surface and sub-surface, air and space operations simultaneously.
