U.S. Marines and civilians participate in Desert Drench Tabletop Exercise at Emergency Operations Center, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California, Jan. 14, 2026. The exercise used an extreme weather scenario to simulate catastrophic failure of the installation’s primary training mission, stressing critical infrastructure, public information systems, and operational coordination while isolating the installation from external support. Desert Drench assessed the installation’s ability to communicate timely and actionable information, maintain unified command and control, and sustain community resilience during all phases of emergency response and recovery.
