Sgt. Kejuan Brown, assigned to the 1st Battalion, 29th Infantry Regiment at Fort Bening, Georgia, tests the operability of a direct fire small arms solution developed by Cole Engineering Services Inc., during Soldier Touchpoint 12 (STP 12) at the Kilbee Ranch in Geneva, Florida, on Jan. 30. STP 12 was a week-long event showcasing Capability Program Executive Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (CPE STRI) Synthetic Training Environment – Live Training Systems (STE-LTS) individual kits and new direct fire small arms solutions. The goal of STP 12 was for CPE STRI and STE-LTS leaders to evaluate vendor-provided direct fire and assess the performance of these new systems in comparison to the legacy Instrumentable-Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (I-MILES) laser system. In addition to CESI, other vendors taking part in STP 12 were General Dynamics Mission Systems, and FN America. Each vendor offered unique and innovative approaches to improving direct fire engagements in force-on-force training. (U.S. Army photo by Donnie Ryan)
