U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to the 122nd Engineer Battalion, 117th Engineer Regiment, South Carolina National Guard, assist the South Carolina Department of Transportation by hauling road salt in support of winter weather operations following Winter Storm Gianna in Batesburg, South Carolina, Feb. 1, 2026. One 10-ton dump truck and three 20-ton dump trucks were dispatched out of Batesburg to move approximately 150 tons of salt to Sumter and 100 tons to Bishopville to help improve road conditions and public safety.
