Rachel Bitar, assigned to the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), presents an American Legion volunteer a command cover as a thank you, Jan. 23, 2026. The American Legion is the largest wartime veteran service organization, advocating for service member, veterans, families, youth, and communities. The U.S. Navy sent eight Sailors from the USS Kearsarge crew to Mount Kearsarge to honor the ship’s namesake and participate in community relations events.
