NAVAL AIR FACILITY ATSUGI, Japan (Jan. 21, 2026) - Vice Adm. Scott Gray (left),
Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC), Cmdr. James Beaty (center-left), executive
officer of Naval Air Facility (NAF) Atsugi, Cmdr. Allen Hartley (center-right), operations officer of
NAF Atsugi, and Lt. Cmdr. Scott Wieser (right), NAF Atsugi’s public works officer, discuss
airfield capabilities while looking at the flightline during a visit to the installation. Gray’s visit
focused on CNIC’s strategic priority to sustain the fleet by maintaining and modernizing the
critical infrastructure that supports global naval operations. NAF Atsugi supports the combat
readiness of Commander, Fleet Air Western Pacific, Commander, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5,
Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 51 and 23 other tenant commands, and provides
logistic support, coordination, and services to units assigned to the Western Pacific. (U.S. Navy
