YOKOSUKA, Japan (Jan. 20, 2026) — The Commodore Matthew C. Perry General
Mess at Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka, is shown Jan. 20, 2026. The facility is
named for Commodore Matthew C. Perry, whose 1853-54 expedition led to the 1854
Treaty of Kanagawa, which opened the ports of Shimoda and Hakodate to U.S. ships.
