Coast Guard Lt. Mark T. Bender plays offense against Park View Elementary 1st grader Ahmari Banks during the school’s annual “Field Day” June 7, 2013. As part of the Coast Guard’s Partnership in Education program, volunteers from Atlantic Area and 5th District commands volunteered to help promote physical activity and have fun at the close of the school year. Through PIE, volunteers team up with local school systems, community organizations and businesses in an effort to enhance educational opportunities and instill a sense of core values into children across the country.
