Painter Omar Dominguez with Ventura, California-based general contractor C.D. Lyon Inc. puts the finishing touches on lettering on the stern of the Self Defense Test Ship (SDTS) — formerly USS Paul F. Foster (DD 964) — at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division on Dec. 2. The USS Paul F. Foster Association will mark the 50th anniversary of the ship’s commissioning during its 2026 reunion, slated to take place Feb. 20-21 in Port Hueneme. In its second life as the SDTS, the Spruance-class destroyer serves as a key platform for testing and evaluating Navy weapon systems. (U.S. Navy photo by Eric Parsons)
