The team dismantled the MK 50 to prepare it for shipping to Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville, Florida. The gun mission module will be installed on a Freedom-variant littoral combat ship (LCS) in the spring, with assistance from NSWC PHD’s workforce members at the site’s Mission Module Readiness Center. Naval Station Mayport is the Navy’s third-biggest surface fleet concentration area in the continental U.S. and the home of LCS Squadron 2.
