General Dynamics Mission Systems engineering technician Daniel Andrade, a contractor in the Mission Package Support Facility (MPSF) at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD) in California, prepares the turret section of an MK 50 30 mm surface weapon gun mission module to be lifted by a hoist in the MPSF on Nov. 13. Workers disassembled two of the MK 50s into three sections each so they could be shipped to Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville, Florida. The MK 50s had been assembled and stored in the MPSF for about a month and a half after having been removed from USS Indianapolis (LCS 17). They will be installed on a Freedom-class littoral combat ship in Mayport in the spring.
