U.S. Marine Corps 1st Lt. Scott Laane, the outgoing commanding officer of Alpha Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, gives remarks during a change of command ceremony on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Jan. 9, 2026. The ceremony saw Laane relinquish command of Alpha Company to Capt. Jillian Renly. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
