Paratroopers assigned to 1st Squadron, 17th Air Cavalry Regiment, (1-17th ACS) Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division salute the flag for the playing of the National Anthem during the 1-17th ACS inactivation ceremony on Simmons Airfield, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Dec. 16, 2025. Since its founding, the unit has been involved in almost every major conflict and has undergone numerous restructuring and modernization efforts over the years. The inactivation ceremony marks the official close of 1-17 ACS, with the colors being cased. Casing the colors preserves the flag, representing the unit's lineage and heritage.
