JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii — From left, Cherylyn Labisores and Arnold Hashimoto, fabric workers with Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, prepare a roll of Herculite textile to be cut in the sail loft shop at the shipyard Oct. 10, 2025.

Shipyard fabric workers use their expertise in textiles and construction to plan, design, manufacture and install vital material elements. Their craftsmanship can be seen in a variety of applications across the waterfront and aboard vessels.

PHNSY & IMF’s mission is to keep the Navy’s fleet “Fit to Fight" by repairing, maintaining, and modernizing the Navy's fast-attack submarines and surface ships. Strategically located in the heart of the Pacific, it is the most comprehensive fleet repair and maintenance facility between the U.S. West Coast and the Far East. (U.S. Navy photo by Camey Streff)
